When choosing a door, we first and foremost consider the appropriate door panel model. Usually, the door frame is the second thing we think about. However, the functional and visual qualities of a door are also significantly influenced by hardware and various accessories, such as decorative trim sets, bands, transoms, moldings, and extensions. These unassuming elements can radically change the appearance of a door and give it a unique design. We’ll briefly discuss these “decorative elements” using the door accessories from the Barański Optimo line as an example.
Decorative packages—a way to enhance the visual appeal of the door frame
1. Prestige I
This package includes additional overlay moldings, mounted on the side of the door using standard side trim strips. A crown molding is installed at the top—a decorative element inspired by classical architecture, also commonly found in English interiors. It lends the door a special elegance.

All elements feature a pattern matched to the models in the PRESTIGE line—and it is with these that they create the most striking composition. However, an attractive visual effect can also be achieved when combined with any other doors from the Barański Optimo series.
2. Prestige II
This package is very similar to Prestige I, but lighter—also in an aesthetic sense. Instead of a crown molding mounted at the top, it features a trim strip similar to those installed on the side jambs of the door frame. The Prestige II set, like Prestige I, is suitable for both rebated and non-rebated doors.

3. Retro I
A distinctive feature of this package is the additional trim strips, mounted on the side sections of the door frame using standard clamps. A crown molding is installed at the top, similar to the Prestige I package.

The decorative pattern adorning the set’s components is stylistically matched to the RETRO line models, with which it harmonizes best. However, an attractive aesthetic effect can also be achieved when combined with other doors from the Barański Optimo series.
4. Retro II
Similar to the Prestige packages, Retro II is a set very similar to Retro I, with the main difference being the greater “lightness” of the former solution. In Retro II, the crown molding has been replaced with a strip-shaped trim, similar to the strips mounted on the vertical parts of the door frame. Both Retro sets can be installed on both rebated and non-rebated doors.

Delux Trim Strips—an option for fans of modern minimalism
These packages allow for a more comprehensive and decorative finish on the door frame. The Delux trim sets, on the other hand, may appeal more to those who prefer a modern and minimalist style. This solution involves widening the top trim from 8 cm to 12 cm. It creates an interesting yet discreet visual effect. It also allows the door to fit into wall openings that are larger than standard sizes.

Baseboards—a design element and wall protection
Baseboards are an interesting element of interior design. They are not integrally connected to the door or door frame, but they can serve as an effective complement to them. Of course, this is provided they match the style of the doors. It is recommended to use the same color and the same film, although a successful combination of different colors can also create a striking composition.
Baseboards can be an interesting design element and also protect the lower parts of the wall
In the Barański Optimo series, all baseboards are made of green MDF. This material is moisture-resistant and does not absorb water. As a result, there is no risk of the baseboard “absorbing water” while cleaning the floors. Therefore, there is no risk of door frames swelling and, consequently, becoming damaged. As a result, the baseboards serve not only as a design element in the room but also as an effective protective layer, shielding the lower parts of the walls from dirt, damage, and moisture.
Transom windows and extensions—attractive additions and “fillers”
There are, of course, more options for customizing doors for functional or aesthetic reasons. For example, when walls have non-standard dimensions and the door opening is oversized, the empty space can be filled with transoms: top or corner transoms. These are independent glazed elements that form a cohesive structure when combined with the door frame. To ensure that the transoms look aesthetically pleasing as part of the overall partition, they are mounted on the same door frame profile and have the same range of adjustment.
The transoms consist of a frame and 6 mm VSG glass—either frosted or clear—filling the frame. However, black or graphite-tinted glass is available for an additional charge. This solution allows you to separate two rooms while providing adequate lighting for one of them.
The dimensions of the transoms and their prices for adjustable and fixed door frames are shown in the graphics below:

Hardware: door handles, sleeves, and caps—the aesthetic “cherry on top”
Door hardware also influences the door’s aesthetic appeal—which is why it’s worth selecting it with attention to detail. Above all, the door handle—which stands out against the rest of the structure—should match the door’s style. Thus, modern, minimalist door handles will suit modern doors, while traditional doors will look best with classic-style handles. There is a wide selection of colors available. The Barański lineup includes, among others, chrome, graphite, antique brass, and black.

Another hardware element that affects the door’s aesthetics is the hinge caps. They come in a metallic color by default, but other variants are also available. It’s a good idea to match both the model and the color to the style of the door handle.
For bathroom doors or doors separating rooms where ventilation plays an important role, it is recommended to install ventilation sleeves.
