Wood is a material that humans have been using for thousands of years. Even in an era dominated by concrete, glass, and plastic, its popularity is not only holding steady but is actually on the rise. Wood as a building material has many enthusiasts, and wooden structures offer numerous advantages—though working with them requires expertise and professional skills.
At Barański, we’ve been working with wood since the very beginning of our business. We started as a small carpentry shop and have grown to become one of the leading door manufacturers in Poland and Europe. Wood forms the foundation of all our doors:
- in the Optimo models, the stiles are made of pine,
- in the Smart series, pine is the material used for the entire structure,
- in the Premium collection, we use pine as the structural material for both exterior and interior doors, as well as in their finishes.
Wood is a unique material. Every wooden door is different
We usually value wood for its aesthetic qualities. However, it’s also worth remembering that it is a solid and durable material—resistant to damage and retaining its functional qualities for many years. Among the hardest types of wood are exotic species such as merbau, jatoba, and teak. They are exceptionally resistant to wear and easy to work with. They are the ideal choice for hardwood floors that are subject to particularly heavy use.
Wood sourced from native tree species has slightly lower strength properties. However, these are fully sufficient for the requirements of door joinery. Oak and ash are the most durable—which is why we use these two species for exterior finishes on doors from the Barański Premium collection.
Oak wood is exceptionally durable, which is why we use it for exterior finishes
The fascinating nature of wood as a building material is also linked to its uniqueness. This translates into the uniqueness of each structure. In practice, no two wooden doors are identical—each one differs in various subtle ways. It’s worth keeping this in mind when making a purchase decision based on photos, which usually present an idealized image of the product or just a fragment of the whole.
Minor differences are an inherent feature of wooden doors
The unique structure of wood means that in individual doors, you may notice:
- slight color differences between the door leaf and the door frame,
- slight color variations in the elements of the door leaf panel,
- natural curves in the grain and asymmetrical patterns in their arrangement,
- color variations at the joints between wooden components.

Individual components of the door structure may vary slightly in color or grain pattern
These details contribute to their natural appearance and uniqueness, which is difficult to achieve with products made of synthetic materials. For wood enthusiasts, this feature reflects the infinite diversity of nature’s creations and lends the doors “character.” However, it is important to be aware that these minor differences are an inherent characteristic of wooden structures and cannot serve as grounds for a complaint.
If you prefer a uniform look, choose doors with synthetic veneers
This is particularly important for customers who prefer doors with a uniform appearance. We understand this need and offer products that meet this requirement. Doors from the Barański Optimo or Smart collections, which are finished with synthetic veneers, are free from such aesthetic “surprises.” This type of solution ensures that every part of the door structure has an identical color or pattern.
