How do you choose a door that will match your home?

Which Interior Doors to ChooseWhich Exterior Door to Choose

Barański Technical Doors – Exterior Doors for Special Applications

Technical doors are products with special specifications. It turns out that, in addition to their basic function, they can actually look really good! Here’s a short guide that will help you make the right choice, step by step.

Technical doors—what are they?

Interior doors installed in areas subject to certain hazards must meet specific criteria. They are placed in rooms where thermal insulation, protection against potential fire and smoke, as well as exhaust fumes, among other things, are of primary importance. Additionally, they can effectively reduce noise transmission. They meet specific requirements, including:

  • appropriate door leaf width, no less than 80 cm (search for “technical door 80”);
  • steel infill;
  • mineral wool insulation;
  • a burglar-resistant lock characterized by the simultaneous engagement of multiple bolts;
  • a door handle made of a material that heats up slowly;
  • a special seal capable of, among other things, expanding;
  • outward-opening (essential for fire doors).

Types of Special-Purpose Doors

Now that you’re familiar with the characteristics of this type of product, find out what the most common types of doors are. They are categorized based on their functions. These include:

  • fire doors (technical steel doors);
  • soundproof doors;
  • burglar-resistant doors (any door can be made burglar-resistant with the right accessories and reinforcements).

Are exterior technical doors the right product for you?

Choosing exterior and interior doors is quite a challenge. Not everyone is looking for them just for their own home. It’s a product that investors install in their businesses and beyond. They must meet high safety standards. Technical doors are the ideal choice for:

  • boiler rooms;
  • utility rooms;
  • stairwells in apartment buildings;
  • warehouses;
  • basements;
  • garages.

Doors – Technical Specifications

Every door must meet specific specifications. Those designed for the spaces listed above have specific criteria. Thanks to these, you’ll feel safe and comfortable at home, at work, or even in a store. What should you consider when choosing? Are hinges important? Pay attention to a few key points. If you have any questions, our consultants are here to help!

Door Core

Barański offers sturdy doors made of a solid panel or a so-called door panel. The technical version of these doors requires some reinforcement, primarily with materials that do not readily allow fire to pass through. Steel, special films, or sheet metal are most commonly used for this purpose. Steel fire-rated doors will be marked with El30 or El60 (you can read more about these below). The core material is a very important consideration. There are situations and locations where you cannot opt for a product that will burn up in an instant.

Finish

The finish and visual appearance of the doors are very important to us. Whether you choose doors with technical specifications or not, you can count on the highest level of aesthetic quality. The Barański Smart series isn’t just limited to silver models clad in galvanized sheet metal. Check out our classic and retro variants. We’re confident that their appearance is on par with other models. Importantly, you get to choose their color. Our palette features as many as 194 solid shades—from white and anthracite to reds and powdery pastels.

Door Frame

The door frame in a technical door should fit perfectly and be reinforced. Inside, you’ll find special seals that provide security on multiple levels. These doors are used not only in public buildings but also in single-family homes.

Lock

A burglar-resistant lock is a key component of technical door series. What makes it unique? First and foremost, it’s the number and placement of the so-called bolts. These are responsible for effective locking that resists forced entry by a burglar.

Noise Protection

Soundproof doors are one of the most popular choices in the technical door category among our customers. Above all, they are an ideal option for separating the garage from the living area. In many new homes, the garage isn’t separated but opens directly into the entryway or living room. There’s nothing worse than the noise of a car or a drill coming from there. To address this, appropriate insulation is used to achieve a soundproofing effect, most commonly with mineral wool.

Utility Entrance Doors—Keep the Heat in Your Home

Basements and garages are areas of the home that aren’t heated. They often border directly on living spaces where the temperature exceeds 20 degrees. Can you completely prevent heat loss with the help of a door? Of course you can. Barański Smart doors, with their special specifications, are designed to keep cold air out. Forget about chilly gusts of wind seeping in right underneath them. Ask our consultant about the available options.

Certifications for Technical Doors

Certifications for technical doors primarily ensure fire protection. This is an additional option from Barański that you can add to your product. They are designated as El30 or El60. Do you know what these mean in practice? It refers to the average length of time during which the door will prevent smoke and fire from passing through. El30 is typically used in homes, which is perfectly sufficient. In shopping malls and production facilities, however, this is definitely not enough, given the number of people who would potentially be fleeing a fire.

Fire-rated doors are an element that directly affects your safety and that of the people around you. A few hidden features can often save lives. Models from the Smart series not only fulfill this function but also look great. If you’re still looking for an entry door for your home, our selection will meet all your needs. We’re here for you every step of the way, from selection to installation.
